How buying USDT with AED works on BitOasis

USDT trades against the dirham on BitOasis as the USDT-AED pair. Buying it takes four steps.

  1. 1. Open and verify your account

You must be 18 or over and live in a supported country. Sign up with a mobile number, then verify your identity with a government-issued residency ID or passport, a selfie and a source-of-funds declaration.

  2. 2. Add dirhams

A bank transfer costs 0% and the minimum is 100 AED. It is typically credited 30 to 45 minutes after the funds reach BitOasis; the bank leg can take up to 2 working days. Card and Apple Pay cost from 3.99% and are credited instantly.

  3. 3. Convert AED to USDT

On BitOasis Lite you get one quoted price for USDT-AED and pay a 0% trading fee. The spread inside that quote is not published, so compare the quote with the market price before you confirm. On BitOasis Pro you place a market or limit order; crypto-to-AED pairs cost 0.38% maker or 0.58% taker at the entry tier.

  4. 4. Hold it or send it on the right network

The USDT appears in your BitOasis balance. To send it out, choose TRC20 or ERC20 and check that the receiving address is on the same network.

How dirhams become USDT on BitOasis Dirhams move from your UAE bank account to your BitOasis AED balance by bank transfer, at a 0% fee from 100 AED. You convert them to USDT on Lite at a quoted price with a 0% trading fee, or on Pro at 0.38% maker and 0.58% taker. The USDT stays in your BitOasis balance, held through BitGo, or leaves on TRC20 for 2.00 USDT with a 10 USDT minimum, or on ERC20 for 2.79227 USDT with a 25 USDT minimum, to an address on the same network. USDT fees and minimums

Buying USDT can involve three costs: a funding fee, a trading fee and, only if you send the USDT out, a network fee. On BitOasis a bank transfer costs less than a card: 0% against from 3.99%.

Worked example: AED 5,000 of USDT

You send 5,000 AED by bank transfer, buy USDT on Lite and move it to your own wallet on TRC20.

Add 5,000 AED by bank transfer
0 AED 0% funding fee
Buy USDT on Lite
0% trading fee The spread in the quote is not published
Send to your own wallet on TRC20
2.00 USDT Optional. The minimum send is 10 USDT

How many USDT you receive depends on the Lite quote when you confirm, so this page prints no exchange rate. Paid by card, the same 5,000 AED would cost at least 199.50 AED in funding fees, which is 3.99% of 5,000 AED.

Two costs sit outside the table. BitOasis does not cover fees charged by correspondent or international banks. And a 0% trading fee on Lite is not the whole cost of a trade, because the spread is inside the price you are quoted. Pro fees fall as your 30-day volume grows: the fees page has every BitOasis fee in one table.

USDT networks: TRC20 or ERC20

USDT exists on more than one blockchain. BitOasis lists two networks for sending it out: TRC20, on the Tron blockchain, and ERC20, on Ethereum. It is the same token on both. The network decides the fee, the minimum and the address format.

Transfers cannot be reversed

Once a transfer is sent, nobody can call it back. Check the network and the full address before you confirm. To receive USDT, use only the network shown on the Receive screen of your BitOasis wallet.

TRC20 costs less to send than ERC20, 2.00 USDT against 2.79227 USDT, and its minimum is lower. The network with the lower fee is not always the right one: the sending network must match the receiving address. If the wallet you are sending to gives you an address that starts with 0x, send on ERC20.

The wallets guide covers who holds the keys and how transfers between networks work: wallets and networks explained.

Networks BitOasis does not support

The BitOasis help centre (article modified ) lists 11 networks it does not support and warns that funds sent on them may be permanently lost.

Tether lists its tokens on several of these networks, among them BNB Smart Chain, Avalanche and Cosmos, so another wallet or platform may offer them to you. Do not pick one of them when you send USDT to BitOasis. Sources: BitOasis help centre, “Digital Assets - Unsupported Networks”; Tether, “Supported Protocols and Integration Guidelines”.

What USDT is and what it is not

USDT is a digital token issued by Tether, a company separate from BitOasis. BitOasis does not issue or control USDT. It sells you the token as a broker-dealer and gives no assurance about the issuer.

The token is designed to track the US dollar. A design goal is not a promise: the market price can move away from one dollar, and that gap is called a de-peg. BitOasis quotes USDT in dirhams, so what you pay is the AED quote at that moment.

USDT is not legal tender in the UAE: the BitOasis Risk Disclosure Statement says virtual assets have no legal tender status in the country. It is not money in a bank account, and it is not covered by any financial protection scheme.

Who can open an account

This page describes the service for UAE residents who pay in dirhams. BitOasis sets the residence requirement by country, so it is the same in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the other emirates. Card, Apple Pay and Easy Funding are available in the UAE only.

The company behind the account is described on the page about BitOasis Technologies FZE, and the BitOasis home page shows what else you can do on the platform. The FAQ answers common funding and withdrawal questions.

How your USDT is held

USDT you keep on BitOasis is held through BitGo, which provides the wallet and custody services. The BitOasis Terms of Service say client virtual assets are held in segregated wallets and are not co-mingled with company funds, and the Security page says a majority of users' crypto is held offline in cold storage, without giving a percentage. None of this removes the risk of loss, and your balance is not covered by any financial protection scheme.

The security page sets out how BitOasis holds client assets and what it does not publish.

Questions about buying USDT in the UAE

What is the minimum amount of USDT I can buy?

The smallest amount you can add to a BitOasis account is 100 AED. The BitOasis fee pages show no separate minimum order size for USDT. To send USDT out you need at least 10 USDT on TRC20 or 25 USDT on ERC20, so buy enough to cover that minimum and the network fee.

Which network is cheaper, TRC20 or ERC20?

TRC20 costs less on BitOasis: 2.00 USDT to send, against 2.79227 USDT on ERC20. Its minimum send is lower too, 10 USDT against 25 USDT. Choose the network your receiving wallet uses, not the lower fee, because USDT sent on the wrong network may be lost.

Can I buy USDT with a card or Apple Pay?

Yes. UAE customers can add AED with a credit or debit card or with Apple Pay, then buy USDT. Both cost from 3.99%, have a 100 AED minimum and are credited instantly. A bank transfer costs 0%, so on BitOasis it costs less than a card.

Can I sell USDT back to AED?

Yes. USDT trades against the dirham on BitOasis in both directions, so you can sell USDT for AED and withdraw the dirhams to your UAE bank account. The AED withdrawal fee is 25 AED up to 25,000 AED and 65 AED above that.

Is USDT always worth one dollar?

No. USDT is designed to track the US dollar, but its market price can move away from one dollar, which is called de-peg risk. Tether issues USDT. BitOasis does not, and it gives no assurance about the issuer or the price. You pay the AED quote shown when you confirm.
