Risk disclosure: the risks of buying, holding and selling virtual assets
Virtual Assets may lose their value in full or in part, and are subject to extreme volatility; you can lose all the money you put in and no financial protection scheme covers a BitOasis account. This page sets out the main risks in plain language.
Virtual Assets may lose their value in full or in part, and are subject to extreme volatility. The owner and/or investor in the Virtual Asset can lose all the money or other value they invest, and does not benefit from any form of financial protection.
Wording set by the VARA Marketing Regulations, Part I.C.3, read on .
Read this page before you fund an account. It applies to every virtual asset you can buy, hold, sell or send through BitOasis.
1. Summary in plain language
- You can lose everything you put in. A virtual asset can lose its value in part or in whole.
- Prices move fast. A price can change by a large amount within minutes, on any day and at any hour.
- Transfers are final. A crypto transfer usually cannot be reversed or recalled once it is sent.
- Virtual assets are not legal tender. They have no legal tender status in the UAE.
- There is no financial protection. No protection scheme repays you if an asset, a provider or a platform fails.
2. Market and liquidity risk
The price of a virtual asset can rise or fall sharply. It can also jump from one price to another with no trades in between, so an order may fill at a worse price than the one you saw.
VARA's Marketing Regulations warn that virtual assets may not be liquid. There may be no buyer at the price you want, or no buyer at all. BitOasis routes orders to liquidity providers, so they set the price you are quoted, and a quote can change between the moment you look and the moment you confirm.
3. Custody, technology and network risk
Wallet and custody services are provided through BitGo entities: BitGo Custody MENA FZE, BitGo Trust and BitGo Inc. You therefore rely on a third-party custodian as well as on BitOasis. Client virtual assets are held in segregated wallets and are not co-mingled with company funds, but segregation does not make a loss impossible. The security page gives the custody and security facts.
Any online service can be attacked or can fail. VARA's Marketing Regulations also list fraud, manipulation and theft among the risks of virtual assets, and say that some transfers may be irreversible.
A transfer sent to a wrong address, or on a network that BitOasis does not support, may be lost. The help centre lists the networks not supported for incoming transfers: Polygon, Avalanche, Fantom, Arbitrum, Optimism, Cosmos, Binance Smart Chain (BEP-20), Base, opBNB, Chiliz and Omni. That article was last modified on 29 April 2026, so check it before each transfer.
4. Stablecoin and token-specific risk
A stablecoin is a token designed to track a currency. It can lose that link, for a short time or for good. The issuer stands behind a stablecoin, not BitOasis: USDT, for example, is issued by Tether. BitOasis makes no statement about any issuer's reserves. The page on buying USDT covers USDT networks and risks.
Every other token has risks of its own. The project behind it can fail, its network can stop, and its rules can change.
5. Legal and regulatory risk
Rules on virtual assets can change, in the UAE and elsewhere. A change can limit what you can buy, hold, send or withdraw.
BitOasis Technologies FZE is licensed by the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) for Broker-Dealer Services, VASP Licence reference VL/2024/11/001 (VARA public register entry). The licence covers Broker-Dealer Services only, and it does not protect you from a fall in price or from the loss of an asset. See the licence and regulatory disclosures, and the guide section on what a VARA licence does not cover.
